Hall of Fame Inductees for 2019

The 2019 Sokol Omaha Polka Hall of Fame inductee’s have finally been released. Congratulations to the below inductees:

  • Deceased Category
    • Gil Krajnik – Band Leader, Sax and Clarinet
    • Frank Kostka Jr. – Sideman, Trumpt
  • Living Category
    • Mike Brecka – Band Leader/Sideman, Trumpet
    • Frank Remar – Band Leader, Accordion

Congratulations to these winners and we will celebrate their induction on Sunday, September 8th at Sokol Auditorium, 13th and Martha Sts, Omaha, NE . Music will be provided by The Little Tavern Band. Doors open at 2 p.m., music begins at 3 till 5:30 p.m. Induction ceremony 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Music resumes 6:30 till 7:30 p.m. This is a FREE, open to the pubic event. Food will be available for purchase.

Inductees from the Deceased Category are:

Don’t forget!  The 43rd annual Sokol Omaha Polka Hall of Fame is Sunday, September 10th, 2017.  Music will be performed by the Kenny Janak Orchestra, playing The Original Eddie Janak Music Library.  Doors open at 2PM, Music starts from 3 PM to 6 PM, Induction ceremony from 6 PM to 7 PM, Music resumes from 7 to 7:30 PM.

Moostash Joe, 83, passed away

We are saddened to learn that Moostash Joe, one of the very best polka band leaders and radio show hosts in Nebraska, passed away at the age of 83.  Joe is an inductee in the Hall of Fame, class of 1974.  Read more in the link below (via the Omaha World-Herald)
