Senator Roman Hruska

Senator Roman Hruska was born in David City, Nebraska. He served as a member of Sokol Omaha for 41 years. He was involved in leadership activities at Sokol Omaha for 56 years, ever since the Sokol Auditorium was built in 1926.

Senator Hruska was Chairman of the Board for Western Faternal Lodge at Sokol Omaha for 34 years, beginning in 1937 and a member since 1923 (60 years). He was also the first President of the Pathfinders Lodge.

He has served as Chairman of the Douglas County Commissioners for 8 years before becoming a U.S. Senator. He served 22 years as a Senator from the State of Nebraska to the United States Senate.

Seantor Hruska was also a member of the Nebraska State Historical Society with special interest in Czech history. He also served the University of Nebraska Lincoln Foundation, which involves fundraising for items involving taxes and tuition do not cover – items such as the Chancellor’s residence, art collections, etc.

The Honorable Senator has helped us in many projects, such as assisting the construction of resolutions that are acted upon by the unit membership.
