Emil Olsufka was born in 1926. He graduated in 1944 fron Duncan, Nebraska High School. He was out of the Army service in 1945, and worked as a barber most of his life.
Emil started playing as a musician in 1945, and played for and filled in for various bands. Some of the bands he played for were the Kava Orchestra and the Eddy & Joe Siemek Orchestra. He also played for bands in he Duncan, Silver Creek, Fullerton, and Columbus areas.
In 1950, Emil started his own band: the Emil Olsufka Orchestra, and moved to Omaha a year later. In 1965, he also formed the Kavaliars, a 5-piece band that practiced in his barber shop.
Emil played saxophone, clarinet, and violin, and played for many weddings and receptions. He also wrote, composed, and arranged many polka songs.
Emil died in 1978.
