Raynold Woita was born on August 18th, 1933, in Malmo, Nebraska. His parents were Louis and Margaret Woita. Raynold is survived by his wife, Dolores Chapek-Woita. They were married on July 26th, 1958, and had nine children: Jane, Ron, Ralph, Randy, Joel, Julie Jean, Jim, and Sue.
Raynold attended grade school at District 24 in Malmo, Nebraska, and graduated high school at Weston High School.
At age 8, Raynold got a button accordion and began taking accordion lessons from neighbor Ted Simanek, shortly after Raynold’s mother passed away.
In the early 80s, Raynold was asked to play for the Czechlanders, where he was on the stage for 30+ years. He also could be seen on the stage with Cesky Klucy and the Moon Lighters polka bands. He was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Milligan, Nebraska in 2012.
Raynold played in many states, including Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas, Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Nevada in Las Vegas. He often played at Little Pauls Tavern in Omaha.
Raynold could not read music, he only played by ear, and all of his songs are written in a spiral notebook that son Jim keeps with his button accordion.
Raynold passed away on June 12th, 2016.
